I'm afraid I have had enough with Windows 10 and am going to re-install a copy of 7. I lost a ton of stuff I would never have updated to windows 10 if I had know it would delete all my programs. Most I had purchased. I am a web designer so I had a lot of different programs for custom sites. This is just a partial list.. Did you make a claim against Microsoft? I too lost many programs and they did not say program removal was a risk - just no data or files will be lost.
Not removal of entire programs like Quickbooks which hardly a security risk program. Microsoft should pay for replacement disks for all of these programs. In 3 months of fiddling I can not get the clock on windows 10 to show the right time consistently. Just installed today without thinking, Windows says 'Shutdown and Update' and.. Glorious, glorious Microsoft! I always thought Apple liked to impose a will but this is worse! Ive heard so many horror story's now I am just glad I have not upgraded or downgraded by the sound of it.
So I am staying with windows 7pro until I really do need to upgrade. Thats if microsoft do not automatically install windows 10 on my PC. They keep trying each time a new update for windows7 is available. Removed my Vipre virus protection that is for the lifetime of my p. Not once but twice I've been able to reinstall it. Also the apps stop working Netflix and Gmail so far. Every single Office application, Picassa and every other photo app he owns, all the settings, all the time spent cataloging, all the many, many hours it will take to rebuild his system.
I run windows 7 in a Virtual Box inside of a a Linux install when I must use Windows and since all updates are turned off Micro-Shite can not touch it. Killed my wife's Craft Artist V1. Wouldn't reinstall either. Antivirus only avast will run , Intel Security-McAfee no go , Kaspersky no go did all I can to get it to work stop mic free spyware scaner but no luck?
I installed ArcGIS v But this version did,nt run on my windows 10, so i uninstall it from controll panel and delete its each n every file to Install ArcGIS v Now i found the assembly files of ArcGIS 9. It was running great, but then came this November update.
It was uninstalled! All my default program settings were changed too; e. Very disappointing! I have 2 problems. Updates makes things not working. I expect the filesystem to be crap since it is ntfs but you have to defragment often and also use programs to trim the system.
A Windows 10 lite and the possibility to use better filesystems like ext4, Reiser fs etc would make it a lot better. I never use Bing. So if I had Speccy and CCleaner installed on my Windows 10 desktop and they were removed, what is stopping me from reinstalling them? It removed CCleaner. It better not remove my Avira antivirus I'm going to install soon once this pre-loaded McAfee on this Win10 laptop expires.
Microsoft thinks it knows what's best for your system. If you disagree with them, you can always go back to 7 or 8, maybe even try a different ecosystem altogether. Why anyone would upgrade to Windows 10 is beyond me. I'd rather switch to a new operating system than upgrade. Windows 10 is spyware disguised as an operating system. Everyone upgrading should get their heads checked.
With a Windows 7 system protected against Microsoft I'm persuaded to wait for Windows 12 before looking up again. I think it's just random glitch. I have avast, cpu-Z, ccleaner, and sumatraPDF installed on my windows 10 laptop, and after the november update not one of them was missing. Even some of the custom drivers like touchpad and flip controls - I have an Asus transformer prompted to automatically install themselves.
It removed all the sound, camera, and printer drivers and forced a complete re-install of all three. The Camera driver will not re-install to this day though. It enabled 'Fast Boot' which, ironically, cause the boot process to go from the pre-update 18 seconds to the post-update 4 minutes 32 seconds. I found how to disable it via the Microsoft Forums. It slowed the cooling fans inside my laptop so I have to be wary of my PC temperature and shut down every 2 hours or so to let it cool off.
I lost wifi on my laptop, the drive don't work Microsoft don't have the right to say what we can or cannot used I lost at least CC Cleaner, and maybe more. I'm checking. I thought that was very presumptious of Micorsoft and considered going back a version. We all have to get it sooner or later though, unless we switch to Apple. Which I don't want to do.
I feel like I've been bullied. I think the issue was there were several programs that needed to be updated for Windows 10 to recognize them - never had an issue with CCleaner or Foxit Reader, Speccy wasn't updated from January new release came out in December - after the Fall update New drivers for Windows 10 for AMD Catalyst software as well as many other programs came out after Windows 10 was released - if you were running Windows 7 or 8.
As someone who was comfortable with building computers, flipping DIP switches, and making software work before Plug and Play was even a thing, it's hard for me to get teary-eyed over these inconveniences.
But I will say that it wouldn't have been a big deal to throw in some code that would present the user with a list on the very first boot after upgrading, of every application that didn't make the cut, so at least you wouldn't be scrambling all over trying to figure out exactly what was gone.
That said, I've had a genuinely good time with the upgrades on three of my computers and one for my dad. No earth-crushing disasters at all, just normal problems that I think this first-world society get too squirmy about. Every PC I own from here on will have Windows 10 on it, because as great as Windows 7 was for me, this is wayyyy better.
Just bought a Win7 license for my new PC. Nonsense TBH. That said, there are some antivirus programs that were uninstalled by preview builds due to compatibility errors. What do you mean, 'nonsense'? User experience has varied with these, but I can personally testify to the fact that both CCleaner and Foxit Reader were uninstalled from my system by the November Update.
Just because it didn't happen to you does not mean it's a fairy tale that other people made up. It is now a weekly occurrence that I see an article that makes me happy that I did not upgrade from Win 7. Even with sticking with Win 7 I still have to be careful about what upgrades I allow, the number in my do not allow list is 11 and seems to climb every month. This is exactly why the windows update service remains disabled on my computer at all times.
Only after an update is released and I've had a few weeks to read about it, will I allow the computer to update. MS can't force updates if the service required to get and install them is disabled. It's a shame too because I really like W10 after the viruses, malware, bloat, etc.
Cortana, telemetry, built-in apps are cut completely out of it not just turned off. Forget about windows 10 for a moment, the past December 8th updates on my Win 7 laptop 9 in total crippled a few of my drivers, saying they were a security risk and the certificates couldn't be verified.
Two were Intel drivers downloaded from HP. Wouldn't even let me reinstall them. Had to do a system restore twice to November. Ran an SFC scan and also there were files that were corrupted. The scan fortunately fixed then. This whole experience since Win 10 came out has been a nightmare. Twice I upgraded an had massive problems. Went back to 7 and still have problems. Who the hell is in charge at that company? The December 8 updates were the one's that trashed my laptop.
I still haven't figured out everything that was done, but I know I am very frustrated at whatever happened to my Chrome Browser. I get security certificate expired notifications at every site I go to. Thank god for Firefox! Adobe Acrobat Reader???? I would need another hard disk for that and another connection to download the hourly Adobe updates. Options: 1- block Windows updates at the firewall level is that possible or Windows Firewall itself won't allow it?
Only real issues were with some preview builds. I am a Windows 10 fan so far. Strongly thinking about ditching my android to for a windows phone. I know android does the same thing when an update comes out that it views as incompatible; seems like a no brainer.
The anti-virus thing makes sense too. My anti-virus software was unaffected in all three systems during each update; even preview builds. Hi Aura, I was about to post the log when I noticed there was a sentence about bluetooth, which I did have active, now I have disconnected it the system is working fine again.
